本研究的主要目的，在引用「性策略理論」（sexual strategies theory）來闡釋「性別」、「第三人效果」（third-person effect）與「支持限制色情媒介」間的關係。為了釐清性別，第三人效果與支持限制色情媒介間的關係，本研究特別建構一個理論模式，希望藉這個理論模式，說明各變項間的因果關係。本研究採用問卷調查法，共訪問了1858位台北市的高中及高職學生。 研究結果顯示，無論男女受訪者都認為色情媒介對自己的影響較少， 對別人的影響較大。當然，本研究最重要的貢獻，可能是証實性策略理論可以協助解釋 性別、第三人效果與支持限制媒介間的關係。本研究發現，女性比男性傾向認為色情媒介無論對自己或他人均有較大的負面影響，也比男性傾向支持限制色情媒介。本研究的另一項貢獻，是証實第一人與第三人效果認知均會影響行為。本研究的資料分析顯示，受訪者愈認為色情媒介對自己或他人有較大的負面影響，愈支持限制色情媒介。這樣的發現不僅証實第三人效果認知與行為間具有顯著的關聯性，也間接証明「第一人效果和第三人效果的認知差距」，並非預測支持限制色情媒介的適當變項。

　　　　　In this study, we propose that sexual strategies theory developed from sexual selection theory and evolutionary psychology can be used to elaborate the relationship among gender, third-person effect and support for restriction of pornography. From data gathered in a survey of 1858 Taiwan high school students, a model is constructed to depict these relationships. Although both male and female subjects perceived pornography to have greater negative influence on others and on themselves, females perceived greater negative effects of pornography on others than did males respondents. Findings also supported the hypotheses that gender and perceived negative effects are related to an attitude that favors control of pornography.
