本文以好萊塢的影片《白宮風暴》為實例，探討非專業史家的歷史意識。這個主題共有兩個層次：第一是研究歷史劇情片的「作者」(即導演)對「歷史的看法」和對「人的看法」。這兩種看法加在一起，便是某人的史觀或歷史認知取向。第二是分析這位「作者」在表述歷史人物時，他如何界定傳記。換句話說，在戲劇和歷史之間，他偏向哪種文學的表現方式。本文從以上這兩個層次綜合討論影響歷史文本在史學中的地位。

Using Oliver Stone’s “Nixon” as an example, this article studies the historical consciousness of unprofessional historians such as film directors this article first focuses on the director’s concept of history and concept of human being, which together form the director’s historical cognition. This article also examines the ways that this director defines biography, in other words, the place where he situates himself in the fiction-reality spectrum. With the two approaches, this article intends to bring out the significance of visual historical text in historiography.
