A Collative Interpretation of Lu Chi’s ‘Essay on Literature’ is one great literature compiled by Yang Mu with the English version of Literature as Light against Darkness translated by his mentor Shih-Hsiang Chen’s and Fu-Gang Xu’s A Preliminary Interpretation of Lu Chi’s 'Wen Fu' as basis and all related annotated works written from Tang Dynasty till modern times as references. Yang also scrutinizes the all-essential notions in literary criticism of the East and the West (tries to compare, justify, and illuminate). It is the first scholarly work that combines the English translation of ‘Wen Fu’ and the Chinese traditional interpretations by infusing the western literary theories for comparison, analysis, and manifestation. It also further employs related compatible academic opuses for consultation and circumspection.
