阻力訓練對於老年人來說,已經擺脫過往因生理老化與慢性病纏身不適合老年人的爭議與惶恐,成爲一種安全又有效的運動。阻力訓練可以抵銷因年齡在生理上所帶來的老化,尤其是肌肉與骨骼方面,適時地增加肌肉質量與骨質,避免肌肉流失症與骨密度流失。並可增加一般生活所需的肌力與肌耐力,進而享受休閒生活並有獨自生活的能力。在從事阻力訓練前配合完善的評估與檢查,擬定每人一套的訓練原則與處方,利用其負荷60~80% 1RM,反覆次數約10~18次、1~3次的組數與每週1~3天的頻率,在妥善的環境與合格人員監督下進行,阻力訓練絕對可使老年人享受愜意的銀髮族生活,無虞地邁入高齡化社會。
