水中體適能運動(簡稱水適能運動)(water or aquatic fitness),有別於游泳技巧採身體平行於水面,而是特意採非流線型的身體姿勢,製造拖曳阻力,產生足夠的運動強度以提升體適能,長期參與水適能運動不但可增進體適能,也可改善心理健康。然而,安全而且有效的水適能運動,有賴教學者充分利用水的特性,設計適合不同體能程度、族群及技能水準的學員。本文首先定義水適能運動,接著引證參與水適能運動的健康效益研究,提供水體適能運動教學要領,最後說明健康體適能訓練原則應用於水適能運動,以及運動處方的建議,包括心肺、肌肉適能、柔軟度及身體組成,並以一般大學生及健康成年人爲對象,提供一堂淺水水適能運動之課程範例。
