The principles for the amendment of 99-course guide in chemistry of the level of general high school are justified. Although the frame appears to have substantial change, the course content has been changed with limited extent. The comparison between the guides of 99- and the 95- versions is made for the textbook writers’ and other users’ reference. In addition, the textbook- writing, reviewing, and using as well as the assessment, which are to accomplish the teaching goals of the course guide are discussed based on the personal experience. Their educational functions need to be reevaluated.
