Nowadays, personal computers are indispensable to lots of people in their daily life; people use personal computers not only to deal with paperwork and do calculation but also to connect to websites on the Internet to get information. The Internet is a pathway towards an enormous database; through surfing the Internet, we can utilize, as well as numerous linkages to jump between sites to access a kaleidoscopic range of information, searching engines—via typing key words into the searching box on the screen—to acquire the target information. This work aims to illustrate how to get the desired information efficiently from the Internet, prompt but chaotically messy at present, and how to apply the Internet-gotten information to Japanese education. This study is carried out as follows. First, I will review the contributions that the precursory research fellows have made, to which I owe a debt of thanks intellectually, and digest the discussion and data on the advantages of Internet searching, the related problems, and the applications to the studies on Japanese education. Then, I will present the benefits of, and the impacts on, Japanese education facilitated from Google searching, as an examplar, and demonstrate various Internet-searching techniques with coupled instances. To fix the point of reference, in the following, I present some instances. First, by entering the key phrase “石の上にも三年,” particularly, with quotation marks, we can get the data containing the entire key phrase, not those just containing its components. Furthermore, by substituting the unknown words in the key phrase with asterisks, like “*の上にも三年,” we can exclude the unwanted instances. Second, by entering a key word or phrase suffixed with an extension specifying the file format, like “ことわざfiletype:pdf,” we can access all the websites in the specified format that contains the key phrase. In brief, with this approach, I will bring forward some techniques and modes of searching and illuminate each with examples to substantiate the feasibility of their applications to Japanese education. Pondering on how to make good use of personal computers in Japanese education, I conceive as a foremost factor how to skillfully manipulate the searching function to efficiently acquire information via the Internet. In this respect, if this work is considered to be of reference value, I regard it as an honor and a privilege.
