The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship among exercise, food intake and body image of the pupils at fifth and sixth grade. Whether exercise and food intake, Including the oil-removal behavior may have any mediating effect on body image would be thoroughly inquired. The samples were fifth and sixth grade pupils from all the districts of Taichung city. There are four hundred questionnaires sent and received a reply in three hundred and six nine (369/400, 92%). The software SPSS12.0 has been employed for analysis. The statistical methods to analyze the data include the description, influential statistics, Pearson correlation, multivariate regression and hierarchical regression analysis. The study in the fifth and sixth grade pupils demonstrated that regular exercise including the willingness and frequency is a positive indicator for body image, especially the physical health evaluation. A habit of regular exercise can promote the physical activity with good in health evaluation. There is no correlation between exercise and food intake. The food intake at meals including the behavior and amount was not positively related to the body image. Nevertheless, fat-removal behavior had a positive correlation with the body image. Finally, the fat-removal behavior would have a mediating effect on the process of shaping of body image by exercise. The effect is more significant at health evaluation. These findings provide the information about correlation between food intake, exercise and body imaging in the 5th and 6th grade of pupils. As a reference to teachers in elementary school, the study suggest that for physical health in pupils, to cultivate a habit of regular exercise with adequate nutrition intake is too important to put a stress on.
