期刊為學術研究中極重要之媒介，圖書館員在訂購大量期刊時常仰重期刊代理商
簡化其繁冗業務。伴隨科技發展，電子期刊躍昇為學術傳播中新寵，期刊代理商因應此出版
趨勢，由傳統不斷變革，除了加速郵遞速度、協助館員管理期刊之外，更積極發展網路服務
、文件傳遞、目次服務與網管功能。本文試圖從臺灣地區的西文期刊代理商轉變、服務，來
探討電子期刊的相關議題。

　　　　　Serials are crucial medium to scholarly communications. Librarians
always subscribe serials through subscription agents in order to simplify the
complicated working procedures. With more new technology development, electronic
journals play more important roles in scholarly communications. For years,
subscription agents have improved service contents to meet the diverse needs of
libraries and new technology. This paper discusses the changing roles of serials
agents in Taiwan and the related issues of electronic journals between the
agents and librarians.
