It is very important to develop the ability for lifelong learning when entering the 21 century. Libraries are considered the best place to carry out concept about lifelong learning according to the function and universality of many institutions. When libraries face the challenges such as increasing information, pluralistic media growth and complicated reader demands, it is suggested that utilizing the concepts and knowledge of educational technology is a better tool. The purpose of this article is to discuss the challenge libraries face when turning into the learning resources center and strategies to overcome related problems. This article reviews the characteristics of lifelong learning society and discusses the change in library role, finally, suggesting how to utilize educational technology for better library service based on the concepts and knowledge of five domains: design, development, utilization, management and evaluation.
