Do performing arts need to be subsidized? This argument for arts support has been convincing for a long time. The truth is, the absence of subsidies would have negative effects on the performing arts. The price of tickets would rise. Attendance would be reduced. Fewer performances would occur if people would not voluntarily pay for all the performances now subsidized. On the other hand, even performing arts do get subsidized in nowadays, the arts goups still find themselves existing in difficult conditions. In order to survive and be success, it is recommended that all arts groups ought to be able to scan the environment from time to time. An external audit reveals key opportunities and threats confronting the arts groups, so that managers can formulate strategies to take advantage of opportunities and avoid or reduce the impact of threats.
