The photo copy of the "Jii-Mao" version of The Story of the Stone was found not identical to the original after the present author had compared both in person. Careful examination led to the conclusion that the correction and the alteration in red-ink were likely the work by Tao Chu and by Wuu-Yuh-An. Moreover, they were considered to be contemporaries from the similarity in the color of the attached paper strips. Chapter 64 was added after the fourth year of Hsien-Feng (1854). Chapter 67 was copied after the second "Ch'eng-Kao" version by Ya-Tong Publisher and the "Jin-Yu-Yuan" version around 1931, but was claimed to follow a fake copy of Chien-Lung era. Probably a copier of the "Jii-Mao" version had been a member or employer in Prince Yi's Palace. The commentaries in black-ink in chapters 1 to 10 were likely done by late readers. The taboo word, and the handwriting were also discussed.
