This is a female patient of hemangioma in the first and second cranial segments of spinal cord. Authors gave continuous nursing care from March 31, 2000 to April 13, 2000. During this period, authors use methods such as interview, observation, etc...to collect data. Moreover, The changing behaviors were recorded, codified into 13 papers and analyzed. After discharge, the patient was interviewed by telephone at June 9,2000. Results include four impacts to the patient while hospitalized. They are follows: (1) psychologically: loss of control, guilty feeling, etc..., (2) physically: degeneration of body functions, pain, disturbance of daily activities. etc..., (3) sociologically: decrease of social activities, change in role functions; (4) spiritually: lack of participating in religious activities, danger of pain and possible to death caused by the disease. Furthermore, There are five coping behaviors showed by the patient. There are (1) control of her feeling, (2) use of psychological defense mechanisms, such as rationalization and escape, (3) collection of data, (4) follow the medical treatments, and (5) actively participate.
