Disregarding residential functions by architectural programming, dwellings in Taiwan often do not satisfy the needs of residents, so that rebuilding activities prevail in Taiwan and cause a serious problem of sustainable development. Whether residential functions are appropriate or not can be examined by dweller's satisfaction, which is a valuable reference to architectural programming. Thus, this study tries to identify the relationship between dwelling characteristics and dweller's satisfaction of residential functions. The result of this study shows the important factors that we should pay high concern in architectural programming are: "family types", "size of residences", "dwelling units on the same floor" and "possession of elevators". Each of them indicates a specific meaning in architectural programming.
