The subjects of this research were from four Asian nations that included Chinese Taipei, Japan, South Korea and Thailand, taking part in the 2004 Women's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan. The purpose of this research was to find out the performance of Chinese Taipei's volleyball scores compared with those of Japan, South Korea and Thailand. It was the hope of this study that through analysis and comparison, Chinese Taipei might catch up with the three other teams in future of volleyball competition by proper training plans to upgrade the potential of the players. Researchers used success rate of initiative scores that included spikes, blocks, serves, and passive scores that were the errors made by the opponents, by way of the benchmark approach combined with the Hypothesis of population mean. The results were as follows: 1. Compared with those of Japan, the initiative scores for Chinese Taipei were fewer. Spikes and serves were among the weakest point for Chinese Taipei. Concerning the percentage of scoring by the errors made by the opponents, Chinese Taipei has more than Japan. 2. Compared with those of South Korea, the initiative scores for Chinese Taipei were fewer. Concerning the percentage of scoring by the errors made by the opponents, Chinese Taipei was even with South Korea. 3. The initiative scores for Chinese Taipei were even with those of Thailand. The serves were the weak point for Chinese Taipei. Concerning the percentage of scoring by the errors made by the opponents, Chinese Taipei was even with Thailand.
