In the period of Emperor Liang-Wu of Southern and Northern Dynasty Chow Hing-Ji compiled "Thousand Character Classic". Chow HingJi used one thousand unique characters to edit meaningful and rhyming sentences in the form of four words of a sentence and every two antithetic sentences. "Thousand Character Classic" had been a popular literate reconginzing material from Sui Dynasty to Qing Dyansty. It had equal fame and great relationship with "Calligrapher" and "Hundred Family Surnames" of the Song Dynasty and which had handed down to the end of Qing Dynasty. In addition to all of the above, "Thousand Character Classic" is full of vitality and even can stand the test. Furthermore, "Thousand Character Classic" is a good reading material for children not only with abundant meanings and literature value, but also with unique educational function. "Thousand Character Classic" was written by the calligraphists of all the past dynasties, but the original text and commentaries has been lost except some treasure paintings. In order to understand the status of "Thousand Character Classic" in the development of the enlightenment education teaching material, this study focuses on the research of the meaning instead of the research of the change.
