A practicum is indispensable for students acquiring practical knowledge and skills. In recent years, the Taiwan Ministry of Education has promoted and emphasized the implementation of practica. In this institutional research, to determine the current conditions and problems of the practica of our school, the researchers examined the practica of every department. In addition, they assessed and reflected on the examination process to propose useful and feasible measures for subsequent institutional research on practica. The researchers used a checklist and interviewed students to collect data, which were analyzed by applying statistical and grounded theory methods. The results indicate that the practicum plans and practices of every department are generally acceptable. However, several aspects should be improved, particularly the connection between educational aims and practicum content. Regarding institutional research on practica, researchers should employ multiple methods to collect related data; in particular, they should collect student opinions and responses more extensively, and seek the assistance of outside experts to enhance the validity and quality of the investigation.
