For the past ten years, the topic of agricultural cooperation and exchange or investment have never appeared a major subject during cross-strait exchange exercises. Not until after April of 2005, when Taiwan opposition leaders successively visited Mainland, Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao and Jia Qinglin then instructed Taiwan Affairs Office and unanimously stressed the importance of solving the difficulties of importing Taiwan agricultural products into Mainland and further attracting more famers from Taiwan to make investments in Mainland.On May 20, 2008, Ma Ying-jeou took office, politics across strait move gradually toward reconciliation. Later on Dec. 15, two sides officially stepped into "three-direct-link" era. This symbolized the start of normalization of cross-strait economy and trade. It immediately re-attracts the active participation from people and institutes concerned both sides.This article is trying to clarify the myth and paradox existing in the task of cross-strait agricultural cooperation and exchanges. The role that "economic zone on the west coast of Taiwan Strait" should play in related to agricultural cooperation and exchange is also discussed. Finally, this article interpret the direction and prospect in the same regard.
