Natural spirits, gods and goddesses, and daughters of emperors’are entitled “Princess”by Vietnamese to demonstrate their highly respected status. Based on 33 princesses from“Viet Dien U Linh Tap,” “Dai Viet Su Ki Toan Thu”and other Vietnamese Han reviews, this article is aimed to introduce stories about Vietnamese princesses. Different ethnic groups worship different goddesses, such as Creation God, Ancestor God, Protective God and All-Powerful God. Among goddesses, daughters of gods’or emperors’are particularly appealing and can be representative of goddess. There is an underlying religious belief behind these goddess, along with reflective gender issues. Through discussion about goddess belief and mythology from Vietnamese princesses, characteristics of maternal belief and gender awareness can be displayed. One can also understand the impact of Chinese culture and general religious development.
