大學圖書館最重要的功能在提供師生學習與研究等活動所需的參考資料。因緣於電子資料庫的建立，使有形的館舍擴大至校牆之外，同時借助網際網路與電子通訊產品的開發，使知識彙聚典藏於雲端，在沒有時空限制之下，讀者透過身份的辨認，即可擴大資訊使用的範圍。由於電子資源使用方便，師生對於各種電子資料庫仰賴益深，但價格卻相對日益增長，加之各校預算縮減，如此趨勢，就必須更重視資料庫建置、使用的各項正負面影響因素，以有效運用及調配圖書館資源。本研究發現，學生使用實體圖書館頻率愈高，其使用資料庫的頻率愈高；電腦資訊設備擁有與否，對於資料庫的使用頻率具有相關影響；相較於低年級生，高年級學生使用資料庫的頻率較高；理工、資訊學院學生較之人文社會學院更常使用資料庫，顯示學科領域與資料庫的使用頻率亦具相關性。本研究建議圖書館應善用入館人潮優勢，進行更有效率的行銷策略，鼓勵讀者善用電子資料庫，以追求資源最大效益。

The most important function of university libraries is to provide learning and research reference collection materials for teachers and students. Electronic databases make the tangible building extend outside the walls. With the development of internet and electronic communications product, knowledge gathered and collected in the cloud. Through the identification of identity, users can expand the access of information without limits in time and space. Since it is easy to use, teachers and students rely heavily on electronic databases, but its price is relatively more expensive. Additional with the trend of the budget reduction in universities, we must pay more attention to the positive and negative factors of the development and use of electronic databases, so that we can utilize and allocate library resources more efficient. This study found that the more students use physical library, the more they use electronic databases. It has associated impacts to the electronic databases usage whether students have computers and information equipment at home or not.
