     電腦程式設計是很復雜的工作,它牽涉很多的認知技能,這種認知特質及程式設計之間的關係到目前為止並未被好好的研究,而如何了解認知因素與程式設計能力之間的關係,可說是發展有效的程式設計教學中最重要的一環。因此本研究主要在於探空間關係及抽象推理二種認知能力與最初程式設計能力之間的關係。   為了配合本研究,程式設計的能力界定於學生能(1)確定認識BASIC的敘述(語法syntax)(2)預測輸出結果(理解comprehension)(3)設計程式(composition)(4)找出及更正錯誤(除錯debugging)和(5)修改程式(modifying)。參與本研究的對象為臺南師範學院初教系一年級丙班,修習資訊科學課程的全體學生共38人,在16週每週三小時的教學中,相當有8週的時間用於BASIC程式設計之教學,學生要求完成指定的作業及程式設計。三個電腦程式設計的測驗則在進行BASIC程式設計教學期間實施,這個測驗在評量五種程式設計的能力:語法的知識程式理解能力、程式設計能力、程式除錯能力和程式修改的能力。   根據研究結果發現,不論是空間關係或是抽象推理能力與程式設計能力之間都沒有顯著的相關,這個研究結果與其他的研究結果不盡相同。 的研究結果不盡相同。
     Linn (1985) has called for studies of Cognitive Chain to help the comprehension of cognitive needs of program design. This call for synergistic cognitive approach was made over 5 years and yet there are more studies that focus on the researches of cognitive ability and computer programming competence. This paper examines the relationship between selected cognitive characteristics and initial acquisition of computer programming competence. Thirty-eight college students of Tainan Teachers college who attended in the course, Informative Science, during the spring term of 1990 participated in this study to help the eventual implementation of understandings and findings. dings.
