Zhouyuan and the royal cemetery of the Yu state yielded the most typical types of Western Zhou jade artifacts.Nonetheless, the assemblages and stylistic characteristics of the jade artifacts present significant differences. This article develops an in-depth analysis and decomonstrates the differences between the Zhouyuan and the Yu-state jade artefacts in terms of the assemblages, decorative motifs, sources, and jade-using systems. Moreover, the author suggests that the geographical variation, development stage, nature and hierarchical differences of these two sites, and their ethnic or cultural traditions all contribute to the differences in the jade artifacts examined in this study.
