中華民族共同體意識的產生以近代中國民族主義為基礎和開端,隨著抗日戰爭的全面爆發,中華民族共同體意識逐漸形成并確立起來,中華民族共同體意識的形成是近代中國民族主義內在邏輯發展的最高成就。"中華民族"作為現代民族符號與中國既有疆域相對應,以國家認同為基礎,也就獲得了確定性的內涵和穩定的邊界,這一民族符號符合中國社會整體利益,獲得廣泛認同,成為重要的精神力量和政治資源。中國共產黨如何利用這一符號闡發其凝聚民族力量、維護國家統一、反對民族分裂的主張,修正和限制民族主義的內在缺陷,指引和塑造民族主義的發展方向,成為當代中國培育和鑄牢中華民族共同體意識必須關注的重要議題。

The emergence of the Chinese national community awareness was based on the modern Chinese nationalism. With the full-scale outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, this awareness was gradually formed and established and was considered as the highest achievement in the development of modern Chinese nationalism at the internal logic level. "The Chinese nation", as a modern symbol of minzu,corresponds to China’s existing territory. Based on the national identity, it also acquires a definite connotation and a stable boundary. This symbol is in line with the overall interest of the Chinese society and is widely recognized as an important spiritual power and political resources. It is important for contemporary China to pay attention to the ways that the Communist Party of China uses this symbol to elucidate its idea of uniting national power,safeguarding national unity,and opposing ethnic divisions,to correct and limit the inherent flaws in nationalism, and to guide and shape the development direction of nationalism in order to nurture and solidify the awareness of the Chinese national community.
