I explain the main theses of the so-called “Meinongianism” or Meinongian theories in this paper, and discuss motivations of those philosophers who hold such views. In the history of philosophy, Russell and Quine are the most famous two among those foes to Meinongianism. I argue, however, that their criticisms against Meinongian theories are not harmful. Nonetheless, I try to raise some issues that I believe any Meinongian theorist has to reply; I think that these issues are the real difficulties of Meinongianism.
