「國家」(state)在國際關係研究中向居重要地位，國家政策是最常受到討論的分析議題；國家之於國際關係演變具有關鍵性影響，當前主流國際關係理論學派，已強烈呈現出「國家中心論」(state-centric approach)。本文研究目的旨從概念與分析架構之建構性觀點(constructive perspective)，申論支持及強化國家中心論立論基礎，非僅根自單一觀念或分析架構，而係混合多種概念體系，並受到實存歷史及主流學說所共同建築合成；本文呈現「國家中心論」所隱含多元、多層次概念體系，以及如何相互結合成一體，進而建築國家之於國際政治的獨特性及優越性，研究者亦可從中清楚了解各種概念交會、共構之錯縱關係。最末，亦將助釐清國際關係理論對於「國家」既存角色(given role)所投射領域範疇。
