This study adopts the ”six aspects” illustrated in ”Wen Xin Diao Long-Zhi Yin” to comment on Yu Guang-chung's poem ”Terracotta warrior: Soldier Figurines excavated from Lintong” The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of applying traditional Chinese literature criticism methods on modern Chinese literature. Results show that: 1) when applying ”six aspects” to comment on modern literature, most methods are applicable, except ”Kwan-Gong-Shan,” whose main concern is about tones and is not directly related to modern poets. Therefore, it is possible for commentators to use it as literary criticism tool in the future. 2) Yu Guang-chung shows deep ethnic feelings for China, and exhibits diverse concerns and versatile styles, whose poem allows readers to transport back and forth between different ages and create dialogues with ancient people. Readers could understand the viewpoints and expectation of Yu, who writes poems passionately for himself, his life, and history. This study suggests that scholars should adopt both Western and Oriental theories to conduct literary critique and broaden their research horizons.
