　　　　　七０年代以降各種「後學」興盛後工業，「後現代」、「後結構主義」、「後馬克思主義」等等，經過知識考古學的反思，現代性的問題遂突顯出來了。不先確立現代性，就很難定位後現代性，乃至後工業主義。紀登斯的現代性學說是從社會制度的角度來探究的，有其特色。再者，他不贊同「後現代」的說法，不過現代性在當代社會已有質變，他稱之為「高度現代性」或「基進現代性」。紀登斯的整個學說係以現代性為歸趨。本文是以紀登斯之現代性觀念為焦點的專題論文。
　　　　　The Work of Anthony Giddens is becoming a Phenomenon in Sociology. He is Concerned with Modern Societies or Modernity from the Beginning. So I Call Him "An Interpreter of Modern Societies". He Approaches Modernty from the Viewpoint of Social Institution--Multi-Institutional Dimensions: Capitalism, Industrialism, Nation-State, Military Power. One Aspect of Modernization is Globalization. The Paper Examines Giddens' Viewpoint and Concepts of Modernity.
