The Han family was an aristocratic family developed from an ordinary family of the populace. The various problems manifested during its rise and fall were quite representative. This family rose by means of the civil service examinations, hereditary official positions and marriage. Being able to adapting itself to the social conditions in the Sung dynasty, the Han family showed distinctive characteristics of its time in its migration, education, domestic discipline and practice, economic position and so on, and all these factors had a great influence upon the rise and fall of the family. Compared with the aristocratic families of the middle ancient times, the Han family failed to last forever. This was determined by the political and economical system of the Sung dynasty.
