What this paper wishes to investigate is the measurement of characteristic, duality terminologically, on housing. And the purpose of this paper is to raise the concept of duality and establish an analytical model containing two components of explanation as well as prediction. Housing, essentially, is composed of dual attributes, household and dwelling unit. While the absence of measurement and the relative decisions, due to the difficulty of conceptualization, is to perplex the study on housing. Canonical correlation analysis, methodologically, is used in this paper to verify the significance of duality on housing and, in addition, to raise the strategy politically. Analysis on the issue and policy on housing will not work effectively with strategy either on "household" or "dwelling umit." Conceptually, housing is the building- block of "household," "dwelling umit," and "family" in this paper. The considerable question of housing in Taiwan, therefore, must be dis-aggregated with "dwelling umit," "household," and "family.".
