夢境敘事是華裔美國文學常見的敘事手法。本文以《女勇士》、《唐老亞》、《家園》三部代表性小說進行分析,討論夢境敘事在華裔美國文學中的藝術形式和內涵特征,揭示夢境敘事的審美價值。本文認為,這三部作品以夢境這一超現實敘事形式,以潛敘述的方式意指美國華裔的族裔經驗,以虛擬的符號文本與現有生活文本和歷史話語展開對話,揭示生活現實,鉤沉族裔歷史,幫助主人公實現文化身份意識的覺醒和族裔主體性的建構。
Dream narrative is a common narrative technique in Chinese American Literature. This paper explores the artistic forms and thematic content of dream narrative in three Chinese American novels: The Woman Warrior, Donald Duk and Homebase, so as to reveal its aesthetic values. It is found that dream narrative is used as "sub-narrative" to signify ethnic experience and, by creating a dialogue between the dream text and the given historical discourse, works as a means to reveal the reality, uncover lost history and help in the construction of ethnic subjectivity.
