The door-head decorations of the traditional Chinese dwellings are the most popular and free of hierarchal restrictions, which can reflect the aesthetic characteristics and the lifestyle of the owner as well as the unique individual details hidden in the common style. A relatively intact traditional residence has survived in the northeast region of Jiangxi province, and its door-head decorations reveal a unique style. This paper is a case study at Yaoli Old Town, the most typical historical town in northeast Jiangxi province, and tries to reveal the artistic features, cultural origins and folkloric significance of the door-head decorations of the traditional Chinese dwellings there.
