中外學界在圖騰研究方法上的不足和缺陷, 致使對圖騰現象的研究始終處於眾說紛紜、停滯不前的局面和境地。研究圖騰現象, 一方面要關注其發展的歷史過程, 另一方面也要探究其蘊涵的實質意義, 此兩個方面缺一不可。鑒於此, 筆者嘗試提出一種新的圖騰研究方法--"過程意義分析法"。

The shortcomings and deficiencies of Chinese and foreign scholars in research method al-ways result in the divergent opinions on totem phenomenon and the stagnant situation of research. To study totem phenomenon requires us to pay attention to the history of the development process on the one hand, it also requires us to explore the real meaning of its implication on the other hand. The two aspects are in-dispensable. In view of this, the author tries to put forward a new totem research method--the "process meaning analysis".
