目前絕大多數的記憶研究都都同意參與者在隱式記憶上的表現,同時反映了意識與無意識記憶的影響,如何估計出意識與無意識記憶個別的影響就成了一個重要的問題。歷程分離程序(process-dissociation procedure)的提出正是為了解決這個問題。類別產生作業(ca-tegory-production task)是一個概念性的隱式記憶作業。本研究的目的於檢驗歷程分離序程在類別產生作中的適用性。本研究藉由檢驗矛盾分離(paradoxical dissociation)是否產生,以及檢驗在包含和排除的情況下以及不同處理層次下,基準回憶率(base rate)是否有差異,來控討類別產生作業是否能滿足歷程分離程序中的兩個假設。一、獨立性假設(independence assump-tion): 意識記憶及無意識的記憶是獨立的;二、一致性假設(consistency assumption):基準回憶率在包含和排除的情況下以及不同處理層次下皆相同。實驗一梯弄兩個變項:處理的層次(levels of processing:語意的處理及字形的處理)及目標字的典型性(typicality)。實驗結果顯示有矛盾分離的現象(paradoxical dissociation);而且在不同的實驗情況下,基準回憶率(base rate)也有顯著差異。顯示類別產生泉導園序違反了獨立及一致性的假設。實驗二使用了不同的實驗材料,發現在滿足以上兩個假設的情況下,處理層次的操弄只會對意識的記憶產生效果,對無意識的記憶不產生影響。本研究顯示歷程分離程序的貢獻在於提供一個方法分開意識與無意識記憶對隨式記憶作業的影響。但在使用時須詳細檢驗實驗是否有違反其重要的假設。
This study examined the applicability of the process-dissociation procedure in the category-production task. Both the independence assumption and the consistency assumption were addressed by examining if there were a paradoxical dissociation and differences in the base rate between the inclusion and exclusion conditions as well as across different levels of processing manipulation. Two levels of processing, physical and semantic, and the typicality of target words were manipulated in Experiment 1. Results showed paradoxical dissociations and significant differences in the base rate between conditions, suggesting a violation of the independence and the consistency assumptions. Experiment 2. used a different set of materials and found that when the assumptions were met, the level of processing manipulation had an effect only on the conscious memory, and had no effect on the unconscious influence of memory.
