This paper explicates the meaning of information literacy and web cognition and emphasizes the significance of information literacy and web cognition in learning process for undergraduate students. A questionnaire survey is conducted to understand how undergraduate students perceive the information literacy and web cognition. The subjects in the study are 548 undergraduates from three Colleges (Literature, Education and Science) at National Kaohsiung Normal University. The study shows that the specific course such as ‘Application of Library Information’ significantly improves students in acquiring information, developing critical thinking skills, and in discerning information and web-based resources. The course also positively alters students’attitudes of internet use and its ethics in an educational context.
