Niou-Mo-Wang (牛魔王) is the most particular demon is “the Journey to the West”(西遊記) because he doesn’t only appears once but also has a family. This paper tries to expose why Niou-Mo-Wang’s family is so special. It’s because the authors want to compare the process of growing up between Niou-Mo-Wang’s family and Sun-Wu-Kong (孫悟空), and they will be the case-contrast. Niou-Mo-Wang is allowed unrestrained freedom, but Su-Wu-Kong is suppressed by the rules and educators. Besides, Su-Wu-Kong is vigilant and encouraged to have a firm purpose by seeing Red Child’s (紅孩兒)behavior and end. Back Child (黑孩兒) in “the Sequel to the Journey to the West”(後西遊記) is the imitation to Red Child, so he can also be the object of study. However, through observing the role Black Child, the author can catch the ideas about children in “the Journey to the West”, but he can’t reveal the development.
