This article discusses the two large-scale evaluations and accreditation of general education conducted in recent years in Taiwan. After reviewing the different models of general education as implemented in Taiwan, we suggest that the "core curriculum" model may be the most suitable one for Taiwan's general education in the future. We also suggest that faculty enhancement seminars are necessary for the continuing improvement of course design, teaching quality and educational policies.
