摘要 在現代藝術家當中，馬格利特是個異數，他不但具有跨領域的視野，尤其特別的是他對畫作背後的思考遠甚於對繪畫本身的興趣。然而或野縝]為他太獨樹一格，反而不容易為人理解，甚至於嘲諷他不懂繪畫者大有人在。1960年代，聲勢當紅的美國普普藝術家們首先公開宣稱馬格利特為「普普之父」，繼之法國文化研究學者傅柯又發表了《這不是一根煙斗》與之互相唱和，馬格利特適才受到遲來的重視。根據本研究發現，馬格利特雖然不認同後現代藝術家的創作態度，也不承認和他們的關係，但他的作品確實滲透著一股若隱若現的後結構主義色彩。
Since Magritte didn’t work and think like his contemporary artists, he had n’t been fairly recognized until late in his life in 1960s when American Pop artists and Michel Foucault started to look at him in a different way. In spite that Magritte never agreed with what American Pop artists proclaimed of him and refused the title "Father of American Pop Art", according to this research, they did have a lot in common.
