The purpose of this research is to explore the conditions, the discrepancies, the relations and other factors affecting indigenous knowledge and indigenous attitude of Hualien City residents. This research adopts a quantitative approach through a self-compiled questionnaire with the city residents of ages 20 and above. A total of 540 people were sampled, of which 427 were valid. The independent sample t test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson's product-moment correlation, and stepwise regression statistical procedures were applied via SPSS in analyzing the survey data. The following conclusions are drawn:1. The percent correct score on the questionnaire is 71.8% in relation to the indigenous knowledge. The average attitudinal score (score on a 1-5 scale) is 3.98.2. The most important factor affecting Hualien City residents' indigenous attitude is their participation in indigenous activities.
