The first large conference to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the passing of Tan Lark Sye was held in Singapore at Oct. 2012, namely ”Transmitting Culture, Nurturing Talents”. There were three main parts in the programmes. Firstly, it was the launch of five new books about the research of Tan Lark Sye and Nanyang University. Secondly, Professor David Wang Der-Wei gave a keynote lecture to reflect sinophone humanities and Singapore experience by ten keywords. Thirdly, three scholars discussed papers about Tan Lark Sye and Nanyang University in the seminar. Finally, it's closing remarks by Professor Wang Gung-Wu. This conference is particularly significant of contributions in education and society. It also shows the full-bodied humanism ill Singapore by sinophone articulations. The publications and papers can fill the vacancies for the historical research of Tan Lark Sye and Nanyang University, and the humanistic spirit and historical meanings are reopened up.
