Different jumping take off action may affect the performance of volley ball players, especially net controlling ability and arm defensive coverage. Purpose: the study explore different jumping take off action (traditional and swing-arm style). Methods: this study using two high speed camera (HD Everio GZ-HM860, 300H) placed in sagittal and frontal plane of the subject with the distance of 9 meters. Afterwards, picture was analyzed by Kwon 3D motion analysis system and statistical analysis was conducted by analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Turkey post-hoc with p < 0.05. Results: different blocking action of volley ball players has no significant effect on sport performance (jumping height, lower limb’s joint angle and jumping speed). However, it has significant difference on frontal coverage area. Conclusions: although swing-arm style has better effect on sagittal coverage area than traditional style, traditional style has its own advantage. Therefore, different offensive ways need different blocking action to achieve the best sport performance.
