Du Fu witnessed the decline of Tang Dynasty and the miseries suffered by the general public; caused him to compose his poems in a gloomy and depressed style. In his late years, Du Fu resided in Kuizhou (ancient name of Fengjie County in Sichuan Province) where he became a more mature and more sedate person. Du Fu continuously created many famous classic Chinese poems. He expressed the internalization of Confusion thoughts and his homesickness through his poem: Thought and Recital under the Moon. With Du Fu's exceptional word-formation skills, he composed many five-character octaves creatively, using various objects, such as the moon over the river, the waning moon, the setting moon, and the descending moon, to manifest his desolation in connection with the ups and downs of his life as well as his unrealized lofty aspirations.
