Objective: The main purpose of this study is to compare the differences of movements between the setters of national teams and college teams when setting the ball from the side line to the 4^(th) position. Method: Two national team setters and two college team setters took 20 balls in the test. Two high-speed cameras were used to record the kinematic data. The independent t-test was used to make a comparison on both the national team and the college team. Result: There were no significant difference in the duration time of ball and hand contact between the national and the college team setters. There was no significant difference in the volleyball initial setting velocity. The angle of setting the ball of the national and the college team players was the 76 degree and the 72 degree respectively. For the national team player to perform touching the ball, the stride length between the left feet and the right feet was 55cm, which was greater than 40cm of the college team player. For the national team players to perform throwing out the ball, the distance between the left feet and the right feet is about 52cm, which was better than 39cm of the college team players. It appears that the stability of the national team players is better than that of the college team ones. Conclusion: National team players and college teams move the angle of the shot, the ball tentacles, hand the ball off stride when the reached a significant difference. Therefore, the stability of setting the 4^(th) position of the national team players is better than the college team players.
