足底筋膜炎為現代人常見疾病，足底筋膜炎的解剖結構易與阿基里斯腱炎混淆，其發生原因在不同年齡層間以40-60歲間或有跑步習慣的年輕人、或是足底結構異常較易發生。足底筋膜是一層纖維筋膜，其功能主要是當我們行走或跑步時扮演著緩衝墊的角色。其病理機轉通常是足底筋膜由於長時間過度使用，而跟骨與筋膜交界處一再重複承重及行進間產生累積的細微損傷。在目前理學檢查與臨床鑑別診斷非常多元，治療方法也有許多方式，透過肌力訓練可增加足底筋膜的彈性以及肌腱的強度，使人類雙足承重時可減少傷害及延緩疲勞的發生。預防才是最重要，其目的在減少傷害發生，建議對造成傷害的致病因子予以排除改善，並選擇適當輔具可預防傷害一再發生。
