The present investigation was concerned with the relationships of field-independence to sex, general intelligence, and self-acceptance among 155 Chinese students from Jiing-Meei Junior High School in Taipei. Field-independence was found to be significantly higher in boys than in girls. It was also found that field-independence postively correlated with intelligence and had no significant correlation with self-acceptance. Furthermore, the partial correlation between field-independence and intelligence remained unchanged with self-acceptance statistically controlled.
