Clothing is not only a necessary of Human's life and also represents a life culture. She prossesses the utility, decorative and social function. This study is focus on the change of Han people formal dress during Japanese occupation in early Taiwan (AD1895-1945). Robe into the change of social culture through the development of Han people's formal dress. The research draws on evidence and informations from still existing collection of Han costumes, from photographs and various documentary source materials. The result shows that (1) the development of Han people's formal dress during Japanese occupation in the early Taiwan: modernization and fusion with Japanese or mainland China's culture. (2) the influences of the change of Han people's formal dress.
