【Purpose/significance】Information Science is an important academic journal in the study of the theory and method of information science, which integrates theoretical, practical and intellectual characteristics.【Method/process】This paper applies the bibliometric method to the 2,255 papers published in the Journal of Information Science from 2011 to 2016 for the number of papers published by the authors, the cooperation, the source of the funds, the citation of the articles, the core authors, and the high-yield institutions. And the results are comparative analyzed before and after every three years as a node.【Result/conclusion】Through evaluation and analysis, the Journal of Information Science has a high timeliness and advanced nature. It has a group of relatively stable academic leaders as core authors, and the emerging scholars have become core authors and the new force in the development of discipline research. In some new universities,the publication rates and the authors’ cooperation rates are increasing year by year, and more researchers have begun to pay attention to and participate in the subject. This journal has attracted a large number of fund papers, which has made the core position of the subject properly reflected.
