The purpose of this study was to design a preparatory training program for helping supervises to be ready entering the supervisory situation and in advance to find the actual effect to the supervisory process after supervises accepting the training.
In order to design the program, 13 voluntary supervisors and 14 voluntary supervises were interviewed by focus group interview to understand the affecting factors to the supervisory process from the respect of supervises. According the 6 interviews of focus groups, 24 groups of factors from supervises were found. Comparing the findings with the literatures, 5 important elements the program should contain were got. According the 5 elements, 6 training units were performed.
For finding the effect of the training program, 4 voluntary supervises having no experience of being supervised were trained for 15 hours. After the training, they were supervised for 6 times of supervision. In the supervisory process, the self-report inventories and individual interviews were used to find the effect of the program. The findings show that the preparatory training before supervision indeed has the positive effects on the process of supervision, among all of them, most of the important in sequence are: gaining the ability to play the role of supervisee, gaining the degree of participation, and maintaining in the good emotional status. According the findings, the practices of counseling education and the directions of future research were suggested.
