In thousands of years, in order to clarify the relations between the philosophies of Confucius and Zhuangzi, there was a large number of discussions, studies, and researches made by researchers. In recent years, Rur-bin Yang had made his own theory that connected Zhuangzi and Confucius in mythology, metaphor and social background. This dissertation used Mental Space Theory in the Perspective of Cognition Theory as main method to analyze how Confucius and Zhuangzi reconstruct the metaphors of 'Tien(heaven)', 'Jia(home)', and 'Ren(people)' when they faced huge sociocultural changes. Through the gradual and directional method, I hoped I could systematically present the multiple interpretations of metaphors, and reason the issues and concepts which was hidden in Confucius and Zhuangzi’s metaphors. Therefore, we could compare the internal systems of Confucius and Zhuangzi’s metaphors, besides, explain the similarities or differences between them. It is hoped that by cognitive perspective method, leading to a better understanding of the relations between the philosophies of Confucius and Zhuangzi. This dissertation observed that both Confucius and Zhuangzi’s philosophy are connected to heaven, but different paths were taken by them: Confucius emphasized the meaning of family, Zhuangzi cored the perspective of heaven. Different times and society cultures made different viewpoints between Con and Zhuang, we could see that Zhuangzi is very cautious of power and he had predecessors' thinking as the foundation, thus he could develop more and deeper possibilities. Confucius and Zhuangzi have different ideas of the metaphors of heaven, home, and people, but they have familiar basing: the Family Culture in Chinese culture, They all made great changes to the source frame content, for example, removing the importance of God and blood in political arena, and the side effects of mystery and violence in Wu culture. It was discovered in this dissertation that positive significances and similar concerns of Con and Zhuang, that both of them created new metaphors, and they all hoped to create a better world in the end.
