自我效能(self-efficacy)是指個人對自己完成特定任務或行動的一種能力判斷，社會認知論(Social Cognitive Theory)主張自我效能是影響行為最主要的自我規範機制(self-regulatory mechanisms)之一。電腦倫理效能(ethical computer self-efficacy; ECSE)是測量電腦使用者完成電腦倫理使用之能力，依據社會認知論，ECSE應為影響使用者執行電腦偏差行為(computer abuse)的要素之一。本研究根據過去文獻將ECSE區分成一般電腦倫理效能(general ECSE)與特定電腦倫理效能(specific ECSE)；並根據理論提出一個電腦倫理行為模式，以驗證使用者之電腦倫理效能是否降低其執行軟體盜版行為之意向(behavioral intention)。研究結果發現，電腦倫理效能對電腦使用者是否想從事軟體盜版行為有顯著影響。
Social Cognitive Theory asserts that self-efficacy is one of the primary self-regulatory mechanisms that serves behavioral change. This study discusses the role of ethical computer self-efficacy (ECSE) in ethical dilemma where computer abuse was abundant. Based on self-efficacy literatures, this study divided ECSE into general ethical computer self-efficacy (general ECSE) and specific ethical computer self-efficacy(specific ECSE), and proposed and test a behavioral model to identify the influences of ECSE on the decision making process of individuals in regard to software piracy. A survey of college students was conducted to assess the model. The results of the study show that ECSE exert a significant influence on computer abuse decision.
