　　　　　本文試圖從政治經濟的角度，探究當今關於網路社會主流論述與政策的形成，審視這些論述與政策所產生的實際後果，以及這些後果和所許諾的理想之間的落差。主流的論點集中於兩個趨勢：一種趨勢強調網路空間讓人們能夠完全擺脫肉身及現實制度的束縛，達到精神的完全自由；另一種趨勢強調網路空間必須向市場完全開放，通過市場競爭創造數位機會，並能擴大參與。本文嘗試指出，網路空間的發展是不斷受到市場機制殖民的過程。透過智庫說帖、政策與立法以及國際官方組織的推動，網路空間逐漸成為跨國資本的新淘金地，其結果並未終結現實社會中的階級、族群、性別及文化鴻溝，反而形成日益惡化的數位落差，後者忠實地反映了現實空間中的經濟與地理的不平等。
This article deals with the development of cyberspace from the perspective of political economy. It explores the making of dominant views about cyberspace. There are two dominant views, the one insists that the cyberspace will make human disentangling the bounds of body and searching the spiritual freedom, the other insists that the cyberspace must be a marketplace for capital to create digital opportunities and make money. Through the historical observation, the author attempts to insist that the development of cyberspace is a history of colonization by capital. The consequence is not the close of divides in society but an expansion of digital divide which authentically reflects the economic and geographic inequalities in real space.
